A missing tooth or teeth can lead to a variety of problems including difficulty chewing, jaw problems, and teeth shifting to fill the missing space. If a tooth is missing, one option to replace the empty space is with a dental bridge. A bridge is a false tooth (called a pontic) that is held in place by the neighboring teeth on either sides of the gap (called abutments). Bridges can be made from several types of materials including high-strength ceramic and porcelain fused to metal for enhanced strength while providing beautiful cosmetic results.
